The Concordia Year of Peace began officially with the city’s Fall Fest Sept. 26, 2009 — but the planning for events and conversations about living a nonviolent life began months earlier, and included groups and individuals from throughout the community.

Beginning Sept. 25, the Concordia Blade-Empire newspaper has provided weekly space for a Year of Peace column, which will be written by committee members and students from the local middle school, high school and community college. Our thanks to the newspaper for its support of these efforts during this 16-month “year.”
