Tree honors Metro family
July 1, 2009 by Sarah Jenkins

Metro family members at Monday's ceremony include Larry Metro, partially hidden at left, and, left to right, Annabel Woodworth, Kellie O'Donnell, Julie O'Donnell, Jolene Clark and Sandra Hittle.

Father Jack Schlaf blesses the Norway maple donated in honor of Alfred "Fritz" and Della Mae Metro.
The couple’s children on hand for the ceremony were Larry Metro, who is the food service supervisor at the Motherhouse; Sandra Hittle, who is the hair stylist for the Sisters at the Motherhouse; Julie O’Donnell and Jolene Clark. Other family members were also present, as were other Motherhouse employees and a number of Sisters from the Motherhouse and throughout Concordia.
I wanted to thank the Sisters for the memorial tree that will last long after we are gone. I am sure Mom and Dad were smiling during the ceremony.
For being a celebration, my sisters and aunt seem very solemn and we are lucky that only a part of Larry shows.
Thanks again to the Sisters who have always been a part of our family.
I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank the Sisters’ of the Nazerth Convent for all they have done for our family over the last year with the passing of our Mother, Della Mae Metro and then our Father, Alfred Metro. I am sorry I was not able to attend the tree ceromony. I heard it was very touching and memorable. Mom would have loved it.
Many thanks to the Metro Family. Trees are such a beautiful symbol of LIFE!
A special thanks to the Sister’s, Staff and especially Fr. Jack for a beautiful ceremony. Larry & I are very grateful as we can see it grow everyday. We sure have a wonderful place to be employed and also supporting us through this last year.
