Loving God and neighbor without distinction: A pontifical institute of women religious of the Roman Catholic Church

The steps toward becoming a CSJ Associate

First Step:
Contact a member of the Associate Team (their email addresses are just below), who will put you in touch with the CSJ Associate area group nearest you.

Sister Jean Befort at jeanbefort@sbcglobal.net
OR Sister Janet Lander at janetmarycsj@yahoo.com
OR Associate Karma Smith-Grindell at grindell@ksu.edu
OR Associate Stephanie Hudson at sehudson@kc.rr.com

First Phase: Inquiry
Over a period of about five months, the Inquirer will attend monthly meetings with a sponsor in order to discern whether she/he is being called by God to be an Associate of the Sisters of St. Joseph.

Second Phase: Candidacy
The Inquirer becomes a Candidate for association at a Welcoming Rite, and receives the Maxims of the Little Institute. Over the next year or so the Candidate continues monthly meetings, at which she/he studies the charism, spirituality, history and mission of the Congregation, prays with the Associate community and discerns readiness for making a commitment to living the mission as a CSJ Associate.

Third Phase: Association

The Associate continues to attend monthly meetings, strive to deepen in the spiritual life, and live the mission. The commitment may be renewed yearly.
