Kids of all ages enjoy weekend Pumpkin Patch!

Perfect autumn weather plus low-tech family fun drew little kids — with parents, grandparents and older siblings tagging along — to the Motherhouse grounds this afternoon for the final day of the second annual Motherhouse Pumpkin Patch.

On Saturday, sunny skies, a temperature near 80 and a virtually windless afternoon encouraged families to play and relax throughout the event. Although the temperature was 15 or so degrees cooler this afternoon, it was an equally pleasant day to take a hay ride around the Motherhouse grounds, play in the corn pile and try out the haystack slide.

Other popular activities included a coloring table, picture-taking stations and pumpkin bowling. And numerous children arrived wearing their Halloween costumes, adding seasonal spice to the event.

The event is organized by Ambria Gilliland, the Sisters of St. Joseph assistant development director, and administrative assistant Laura Hansen, with lots of other staff members and volunteers lending a hand.

All proceeds from the event benefit the Sisters of St. Joseph of Concordia and their ministries.
