Bishop honors women religious with special Mass, lunch

Priests from across the Salina Diocese joined Bishop Edward Weisenburger to celebrate a special Mass of Appreciation today (May 14) for sisters who serve throughout North-Central Kansas.

Nearly two dozen Sisters of St. Joseph of Concordia attended, including sisters who live across the Diocese.

The annual event includes lunch in the Bishop’s Hall at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Salina, with the priests, Chancery staff and Vocatio members  serving as waiters for the occasion.

“I look forward to this every year for the opportunity to pray with you, and for you, and to offer you our thanks,” the bishop told the sisters as he began Mass.
