REPORT DATED FRIDAY, JUNE 21: A contingent of Concordia sisters and guests arrived in Teresina, Brazil, about 2 Thursday afternoon — tired from a 26-hour trip but excited about being with our Brazilian sisters to celebrate the 50th anniversary of our mission there.
Sisters of St. Joseph of Concordia in the group are Sister Marcia Allen, president of the congregation, and Sisters Therese Blecha, Anna Marie Broxterman, Pat Eichner and Rosemary Farrell.
The trip from Concordia to Teresina had been expected to be much shorter, but there were mechanical problems with the aircraft the group was scheduled to board in Atlanta, which caused a delay — and that delay meant they missed their connecting flight in Brasilia.
Sister Pat Eichner sent these photos from the group’s first full day in Teresina (Friday, June 21), and we hope to add more photos every day or two.
The jubilee celebration for the mission’s 50th anniversary concludes Saturday, June 29, in Teresina.
