Recycle Your Christmas Tree

Your tree doesn’t have to have just one purpose this Christmas. Once the holidays have come and gone, consider using your once festive-looking shrub for another purpose.

  1. Use it for OUTDOOR Firewood for a bonfire.
  2. After you’ve burned the wood from your tree, gather the ashes and spread them on your garden to provide nutrients that help plants thrive.
  3. Make mulch or compost out of it.
  4. Hang bird feeders and watch birds and other animals nest in the branches.
  5. Use it as a fish feeder in a nearby lake or pond.
  6. Use branches to insulate your garden and protect from winter freezes.
  7. Store the needles in paper bags or sachets to use as fresheners year-round.
  8. Let the wood dry and cut the trunk into 1” disks for coasters or ornaments for next year’s tree.
