Sisters welcome employees, volunteers to Christmas luncheon

Sisters of St. Joseph treated employees and volunteers to their annual Christmas Luncheon this afternoon at the Nazareth Motherhouse. In addition to employees at the Motherhouse, other staff came from the CSJ Center on Court Street, Manna House of Prayer and Neighbor to Neighbor. Volunteers who regularly give their time to the sisters’ various ministries were also included in the festivities.

This afternoon’s special guest was Randy Halfhide, who has spent the last several months restoring and rebuilding a 1885 Chickering grand piano that now graces the west side of the Motherhouse auditorium stage. Unfortunately, heat and cooling over the last several days left the antique piano out of tune, so Halfhide played a wide assortment of Christmas carols on the grand piano on the other side of the stage.

In addition to his talents restoring antique instruments, he is also the tuner for all the pianos in the Motherhouse.

The food for the annual Christmas luncheon is all prepared and served by sisters, as a small way of thanking employees and volunteers for their dedication during the year.
