Jan. 21, 2011: By believing, we can work toward our dreams, by Michaela Hyman

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” This quote from Eleanor Roosevelt has been an inspiration in my life. My hope is that it will inspire others.

By believing, one can accomplish many things. Do not let anyone tell you that you can’t accomplish something.

Many times parents crush beliefs in an attempt to protect their children. They don’t mean to do it; they just want you to be realistic. Truthfully, you can do anything if you set your mind to it and do the right things to achieve your goal.

Do you remember when you were little and had fantastic dreams? Children always imagine becoming astronauts, professional athletes or rock stars. Some of them fulfill these dreams because they believe long enough and work hard enough to accomplish them.

Some people don’t think there is anything to believe in. This is because people are close-minded. There are endless possibilities that someone can believe in. You should set your goals according to your heart’s desire.

To some people dreaming and believing are two different things. But I think they’re almost the same. You can’t dream if you don’t believe and you can’t believe without something to dream about. If you follow your dreams and truly think your dream will come true, then it will by just believing.

So now it is time to sit down and ask yourself, “What do I believe in?” “What dreams haven’t I accomplished that I still can?”

Always remember to just believe and work toward your dreams.
