Thanks to Sister Kathryn Schaefer for photos.

Friends and family packed the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish Hall in Larned, Kan., Sunday (Nov. 1) to honor Sister Virginia Pearl for her years of service to the community.

Sister Virginia, who now lives at the Sisters of St. Joseph Nazareth Motherhouse in Concordia, served for more than 20 years as a chaplain at the Larned Correctional Mental Health Facility and the Larned State Hospital. During those years — and still — she was an active member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish.

In his tribute to her, Father Warren Stecklein said she has lived her life doing the will of God.

Family members in attendance for Sister Virginia’s reception Sunday included her sister Maureen Harris, brother Jerry Pearl, sister-in-law Eileen Pearl and nieces Ann Marie and Gerry Lou Marstall, Colleen Monhollon and Ginger Flach.
