Kansas Big Brothers Big Sisters is ready to “Go Big or Go Home” in our recruitment and fundraising campaign to serve the children of Cloud, Mitchell and Republic counties.

Division One Kansas Basketball Coaches Gregg Marshall (WSU), Bill Self (KU) and Bruce Weber (K-State) are once again challenging Kansans to “Go Big or Go Home” when it comes to helping kids. As statewide co-chairs of the 2015 Bowl for Kids’ Sake fundraising and mentoring campaign, their challenge will serve as a friendly competition to determine who can collect the most funds and recruit the most volunteers for Big Brothers Big Sisters.

What is Big Brothers Big Sisters?

Kansas Big Brothers Big Sisters operates under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life. What sets us apart from other mentoring organizations is that we provide one-to-one mentoring. Our unique program helps develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of Kansas kids.

We strive to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever.

National research shows that positive relationships between Littles and their Bigs have a direct and measurable impact on children’s lives. By participating in our programs, Little Brothers and Sisters are:

— more confident in their schoolwork performance
— able to get along better with their families
— 46 percent less likely to begin using illegal drugs
— 27 percent less likely to begin using alcohol
— 52 percent less likely to skip school
