Santa visits kids at Neighbor to Neighbor

About 20 children got an early visit from St. Nick Friday afternoon, at Neighbor to Neighbor’s annual “Santa Party.” And as a special treat for the kids, Mrs. Claus joined in the festivities.

The holiday party has become a tradition for the three sisters who founded and operate Neighbor to Neighbor. On Friday, Sisters Jean Befort and Ramona Medina stayed downstairs to entertain parents and other invited guests while Sister Pat McLennon, assistant Myrna Shelton and helpers Vivian Leiker and Kathleen Norman served snacks, played games and worked to keep the children entertained until Santa’s arrival.

Once Santa and Mrs. Claus arrived, any thoughts of needed naps or sibling rivalries were set aside. Each child had a chance to sit on the Big Guy’s lap, have a photo taken and receive a gift selected just for him or her. But while all of the kids were excited by the idea of Santa and gifts, a few were less than enthusiastic about actually sitting on his lap  or going anywhere near him. Everyone got a gift nonetheless.

Other days of the year Santa is known as Bob Valcoure, while Mrs. Claus’s friends call her Karen Driscoll.
