This morning four representatives from the Leadership Conference of Women Religious had a 50-minute meeting with Pope Francis while conducting their annual visit to various Vatican offices. Those meeting with the pope were Sister Marcia Allen, CSJ; Sister Carol Zinn, SSJ; Sister Joan Marie Steadman, CSC; and Sister Janet Mock, CSJ.
“We were honored to have this opportunity for such an extensive conversation with Pope Francis that centered on Evangelii gaudium, the pope’s apostolic exhortation that has so deeply impacted our lives as women religious and our mission in the world,” the four said in a statement at the end of the meeting. “Our conversation allowed us to personally thank Pope Francis for providing leadership and a vision that has captivated our hearts and emboldened us as in our own mission and service to the church. We were also deeply heartened by Pope Francis’ expression of appreciation for the witness given by Catholic sisters through our lives and ministry and will bring that message back to our members.”
God works in God’s time with his instruments. Our beautiful Women Religious,. especially our Sister Marcia Allen, and Pope Francis. Our lines of communication have been fruitful. Thanks be to God!!!
What a wonderful sight… Grace and peace abound!
How wonderful to be able to have this private conversation with Pope Francis and keep the communication line open.
Francis is recognizing us and canceling what did not even have to happen. We probably do not have any idea how much courage it took to Eve sit down with four US women. So let’s keep him! Especially in our prayers.
Yahoo Sisters, Blessings and peace as you show us “The Wisdom of Women Religious” as we go forward to live our lives of service to God and the dear neighbor.
Thanks be to God for the grace and courage of religious women. May blessings abound for you, Pope
Francis, and those to whom you minister.
So proud of the decorum and dignity shown by the Sisters. It was wonderful seeing the sister having a private meeting with the Pope, especially Our S. Marcia Allen CSJ, president elect of the LCWR.
