Sisters honored as Fall Fest Grand Marshals
September 25, 2010 by Sarah Jenkins
The Sisters of St. Joseph led off this morning’s Fall Fest Parade as Grand Marshals of the annual Concordia event.
About a dozen sisters rode the “We Love U Concordia” float while several others walked along side. Still other sisters and Motherhouse employees took spots along the parade route to cheer them on.
The Fall Fest committee honored the sisters for our work this year in establishing the Neighbor to Neighbor center for women in downtown Concordia and for leadership in the Concordia Year of Peace effort, which kicked off at last year’s Fall Fest.
Neighbor to Neighbor also had a Fall Fest booth, to sell a variety of handmade items, including Christmas tree angels made by women who have visited the center at 103 E. Sixth St. Also available for sale were “Heavenly Bits” dog biscuits, which are made by sisters to help support the center.
How delightful! Seeing the pictures and reading about the day almost makes it seem like we were there. Many thanks to all!
How exciting to read the article and see the pictures of us as Grand Marshals for the Concordia Fall Fest. So proud of us. Wish I could of been there.
THANKS to Pat Eichner for designing the float! She & Julie did most of the work, along with Julie’s sister, Katie! It really looked nice. And THANKS TO YOU, Sarah, for posting it for all to see. Was great fun!
NIce job! This looks like a “Mayberry kinda town. Nice to see a town with good spirit!
Could hardly wait to see the pictures of our sisters and the smiling faces and the delightful float! Thanks, Sarah, for letting us see it all through your camera lens!
How delightful to see all the Sisters………..I wish I could have been there.
Love, hugs and blessings to each of you and “THANKS for being in my life!”
Hello from Montana! What a great honor for the Sisters to be the Grand Marshall for the Fall Fest Parade. I wish I could of been there to cheer you all on. I really miss all of you very much. It was good to see some of you in the pictures that were posted on the web site. That makes me a little home sick for Kansas.
Make sure you check out the video under “Photo Galleries.”
Thanks for posting these great pics so quickly, Sarah. It’s the next best thing to being there!
What fun to see these pictures on this special Fall Fest Day, thanks to Sarah! And, it was great fun to be on the float and to see the crowds of people on the streets. We had standing ovations almost all the way! (Parade-like, you know, with most people standing!) Many watchers were sitting, and some got out of their chairs and clapped … just plain and simple fun. Yes, CONCORDIA, WE LOVE YOU! The food, booths, music, and dear neighbors gave all cause to be grateful and to celebrate LIFE! My heart danced. I wish the whole CSJ Concordia community could have been here for the “Grand Marshall” experience. We are all here in spirit!
Great pictures and coverage Wish I could have been there! Thanks Sarah.
