When the date of the annual Motherhouse Spaghetti Dinner falls on St. Patrick’s Day, you can count on the  Sisters of St. Joseph to add a little Irish to the mix.

Among the added attractions for the fund-raising dinner on Sunday, March 17, will be leprechauns and bags of gold hidden around the auditorium and dining room, cookie decorating (with green frosting, of course) and a display of St. Patty’s Day posters colored by the children who attend. There will also be drawings for five prizes that include $700 in cash.Tickets are now available for both the dinner, which will be served from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Nazareth Motherhouse, 1300 Washington St., Concordia, and the drawings.Dinner tickets in advance are $8 for adults and $4 for children 5 to 12. (Children 4 and younger eat free.) In Concordia, they are available at the Motherhouse; Neighbor to Neighbor, 103 E. Sixth St.; Manna House of Prayer, 323 E. Fifth St.; and the CSJ Administration Office, 215 Court St.You may also reserve dinner tickets and tickets to the drawings by calling Elizabeth Weddle at the Motherhouse, 243-2113, ext. 1223, or by e-mailing her at eweddle@csjkansas.org.

Tickets at the door will be $10 for adults and $6 for children 5 to 12.

In 2012, nearly 450 people attended the event.

At this year’s dinner, ticket holders in the drawing choose which prize to try for: $700 cash, a $200 Amazon gift certificate, a full-size quilt handmade by Sister Betty Suther, a three-piece bistro set and a 1,000-watt portable generator.

There will also be a silent auction during the dinner with five special items available for bidding.

Back this year are a bake sale of items homemade by Sisters of St. Joseph and the popular “grab bag” of mystery gifts.

The dinner menu features spaghetti, garlic bread, salad and dessert. Plus, there will be live musical entertainment throughout the event.

Free guided tours of the Motherhouse, built in 1902 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, will also be available during the event.
