Taking the First Step

Four women were accepted into the CSJs during a special ceremony and Mass during the 2025 Assembly. Mai Nguyen, Nam Nguyen, Nhung Pham, and Chung Nguyen each took the first step to becoming a Sister of St. Joseph.

These women promised to enter into the life of the community, discern their call to the Congregation of St. Joseph, and fully participate in the formation program with the prayers of the Sisters and God’s help.
The four are now postulants. A postulant is a person taking the first step in religious life before entering the novitiate. The purpose of the postulancy is to acquire some knowledge of the religious life and of the Sisters of St. Joseph through their personal experience.
Sister Alexsandra da Silva will serve as the postulant director.
During their postulancy, they will study the history and spirit and spirituality of the Congregation, participate in communal life and prayer, and continue to regularly discern with a spiritual director and others, their call to the religious life.
The Sisters welcome Mai, Nam, Nhung, and Chung into the Congregation as they experience a deeper level of community living and values.
