The founder and owner of Bound for Bliss Yoga in Dallas, Texas, will be in Concordia later this month for two days of yoga workshops.

Shanell Mergerson’s three workshops on Oct. 25 and 26 will be at Manna House of Prayer, 323 E. Fifth St.

The cost is $25 for each two-hour workshop, and participants may register for one, two or all three. Online registration is available at mannahouse.org under the “Retreats & Workshops” tab or by calling Manna House at 785/243-4428.

Shanell Mergerson is a certified yoga instructor who has trained in a wide range of yoga techniques and styles. The workshops she will offer are:

  • Friday, Oct. 25, at 7 p.m. — The Essentials: Intro to Pranayama, Meditation and Asana.
  • Saturday, Oct. 26, at 9 a.m. — Opening the Spine: Recover from all the time you spend with your technology devices, at your desk or holding your children. Then take home a sequence that you can do by yourself.
  • Saturday, Oct. 26, at 3:30 p.m. — Opening the Hips and Hamstrings: Exercise enthusiasts unite, release and lengthen. Then put together a powerful sequence for the end of your regular workouts.

Mats and blocks are available, if you don’t have either. You may choose to bring your own small towel and a strap (a gate belt or fabric belt is comparable).

Please wear comfortable workout clothes. You will not wear shoes or socks during the workshops.

Regular yoga sessions are also available at Manna House four days a week. There is no charge to attend, but free-will offerings are accepted.

Those sessions are:

  • Monday & Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. — Learners class, focusing on breathing and building the foundations of yoga.
  • Tuesday and Thursday at 4:45 pm:  Vinyasa Flow and Hatha — Easy to moderate, great class if you have the basics down OR if you are willing to breath through and enjoy a challenging introduction.
  • Tuesday and Thursday at 7 pm: Vinyasa Flow and Hatha — Easy to Moderate, this class is based on whoever shows up and energy levels.

More information is available by calling 785/243-4428 or emailing retreatcenter@mannahouse.org.
