Thursday’s Reception offers a preview of Christmas Tree Lane

Fifteen beautifully decorated trees, festive music and good company were all attractions for the folks who stopped by the Nazareth Motherhouse this evening as the Sisters of St. Joseph began their holiday season with our annual Christmas Reception.

The highlight of the event was the chance for people to see the entries in this year’s Christmas Tree Lane, the 4-foot trees decorated in individual and artistic style by local nonprofit organizations. The trees will be auctioned off Friday evening during a gala ticket-only event. (And at last word, there are still a handful of tickets still available; call or email Holly Brown Friday morning at 243-2113, ext., 1225, or

This evening’s reception was more of a come-and-go atmosphere, giving those in attendance a chance to listen to local musicians while chatting about the trees with the sisters on hand.

Musicians who volunteered their time for the event were Mari Detrixhe; Quentin, Krystal, Payton and Tessa Breese; DeeDee Coppoc and Jaci Brown; Marsha Doyenne; Sarah Jeardoe; and Sister Beth Stover.

Everyone also got to vote in the “People’s Choice Award” for their favorite tree, with the winner of that special prize to be announced during Friday evening’s event.

There was also a drawing this evening for a Willow Tree nativity set. The winner, whose name was drawn at 8 p.m., was Shella Thoman of Concordia.
