Two CSJ Associates Make Their First Commitment

The annual CSJ Associate Retreat was held from March 8 to 10 at Manna House of Prayer. Two new associates made their first commitment, while seven other Associates renewed their commitment to the Sisters of St. Joseph of Concordia.

A CSJ Associate is a Christian adult who is committed to Gospel values, feels drawn by the charism, spirituality, and mission of the Sisters of St. Joseph, desires to deepen one’s spiritual life, is willing to give oneself in service to the “dear neighbor,” and is committed to building community. CSJ Associates are men and women from all ages and walks of life. They meet regularly for prayer and sharing, either in groups or one-on-one.

This year’s retreat began on Friday night with dinner followed by introductions and an icebreaker. Catherine Seitz led an evening prayer with a lovely version of the Stations of the Cross. Saturday, Sister Jean Ann Walton presented the program “Celebrate! Change Your Lens, Change Your Life.”  The Commitment Ceremony was held Saturday evening at the Motherhouse. Many Sisters were there to witness this special occasion.

Two new Associates, Gerry Larson from Hays, KS, and Susan Deges from Hill City, KS, made their first commitment.  Associates Jo Foy, Mary Ray, Mary Lee Kenworthy, Mary Denise Carleton, Catherine Seitz, Dawn Desbien, and Susan LeDuc renewed their annual commitment.  The ceremony was followed by a social with Associates and Sisters both attending.

The retreat concluded with Rosary in the Manna House Chapel, followed by Mass with Father Barry, and closing with State of the Heart and Order of the House.
