Volunteers and the sisters who are part of the Federation Novitiate joined the Sisters of St. Joseph today (Sunday, Nov. 29) in their annual tradition of decking the Motherhouse halls for Christmas.

Actually, the decking extends to halls, vestibule, chapel, foyer, parlors and other spaces throughout the historic five-story building.

Sister Janis Wagner coordinates the annual project, which is always completed before the Christmas Reception set for Thursday evening this year.

The public is invited to the Christmas Reception, set for 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3. Those attending will have a chance to preview the 15 decorated entries in Christmas Tree Lane, and can vote on their favorite. There will be live music throughout the event, plus snacks and the opportunity to chat with Sisters of St. Joseph.

Parking is available in the east lot (between the Motherhouse and the Community Garden), and easy access is through the new east door.

On Friday evening there is a ticket-only party that will include a live auction for the 15 trees, each of which was decorated by a local nonprofit organization. All proceeds from the auction plus any donations go directly to the organizations taking part.
